January 7^th, 2019. After celebrating the start of 2019, we decided to have one look back into the past year, in which many exciting things happened. June 1^st, we officially started the SOFIA study, and soon afterwards we included our first participants. Numbers kept rising steadily, and last week we had included over 420 participants. Hopefully, we can keep this flow going, so we can acquire enough participants for our study this year.

Meanwhile, other research groups are also publishing articles about solitary functioning kidneys. Noteworthy was an article from Brazil, in which the investigators created a prediction model to classify children as high or low risk  for renal injury. Although we are not sure whether this model can be used in clinical practice, it illustrates the need for such a risk classification.
